House lawmakers in Delaware approve $5.6 billion budget for fiscal year starting July 1

DOVER, Del. (AP) — House lawmakers in Delaware voted Thursday to approve an operating budget of more than $5.6 billion for the fiscal year starting July 1, an increase of roughly 10% over this year’s operating budget. Lawmakers also approved a separate budget supplement totaling $194.5 million in one-time funds for next year.House members voted 32-8 for the operating budget and 33-7 for the supplemental bill. All dissenting votes were cast by Republicans, some of whom expressed concern about the increase in spending.“That 10 percent is now baked in,” said Republican Rep. Lyndon Yearick, referring to the Legislature’s practice of using one year’s budget as the starting point for the next year’s spending.“That level of an increase is not only going to make the next-year budget harder, but the following year and the following year,” Yearick warned.Republican Rep. DENVER (KDVR) -- Severe thunderstorms passed through the Denver metro Thursday afternoon bringing heavy rain, hail, thunder, damaging wind and a tornado. DENVER (KDVR) — The governor declared a disaster emergency for several Colorado counties Thursday after severe storms.Gov. Jared Polis issued the verbal declaration for Lincoln, Elbert, El Paso and Washington counties. Severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings were in effect into Thursday night as weather systems moved across the state. MORRISON, Colo. (KDVR) -- Concertgoers still felt traumatized the morning after a major hail storm unloaded during a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. “Out of nowhere, here comes hail," Samantha Cochran, who was at the concert, said. Red Rocks explains how it warns people of severe weather Samantha was with her sister Mollie waiting for Louis Tomlinson. They told FOX31's Courtney Fromm about the wait for one weather delay before the concert was cleared to start. Mollie said just a few moments later there was another weather delay in place then within two minutes the hail started. “We were in the corner standing with cardboard over our heads," Mollie said. (KDVR) - When a vicious hailstorm hit the Red Rocks Amphitheatre Wednesday night concert-goers were left trying to take shelter on short notice.Thousands of people were waiting for Louis Tomlinson to take the stage when dangerous hail began to pelt the crowd. Orville Peck announced on Wednesday that he will no longer be touring this year, effective immediately. The country artist cited mental and physical health as his reason for the postponement.
