Oakland: Police say nine juveniles as young as 12 arrested in series of strong-arm robberies

OAKLAND — Nine juveniles police say are connected to nearly three dozen separate robberies in more than a dozen city neighborhoods were arrested Monday.According to a police spokesperson’s statement Tuesday afternoon, officers on patrol Monday saw a car linked to one of the robberies and followed it to a downtown business in the 100 block of 14th Street, where several people got out and went inside.Officers arrested five of the juveniles at the business, but others fled in the car at a high speed. An Oakland police helicopter followed it from above to an area near 6th Avenue and East 15th Street, where four people got out and ran. Other officers responded to the area, and took the four into custody, police said.All nine were arrested on suspicion of robbery. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- One person was killed and four were injured Tuesday morning at 16th Street and Potrero Avenue after a suspect vehicle involved in a pursuit crashed into bystanders, according to police. Emergency crews are on the scene, according to the San Francisco Department of Emergency Services. Some of the injured were bystanders and others may have been involved in the pursuit, officials said. (KRON) -- After more than a week on the run, a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Hayward woman was arrested by law enforcement on Monday, according to the Hayward Police Department. 3 girls, 6 boys arrested in Oakland robbery crime spree Vaughn Boatner, 33, of San Mateo, was found in a residential area of Seattle, Washington, and taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service, Seattle Police Department and the King's County Sheriff's Office. HPD has been searching for Boatner since identifying him as a suspect in a homicide and attempted homicide on May 11. Police arrived at the scene on Cassia Drive after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. Police found two victims at the scene, and a 5-year-old boy was also inside at the time. The victim who died was 30-year-old Monique Aldridge of Hayward. She died at the hospital, police said. (KRON) -- Three of the victims in Monday's early-morning crash in Sunnyvale have been identified by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office. Victim in San Jose wrong-way crash identified by family Tyler Rasay, 28, of South San Francisco and Paul Dennig Jr., 24, of Mountain View, and Nicacio Negrete Gutierrez, 53 all died in the crash. John Carney’s spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year on Tuesday by approving across-the-board pay raises of up to 9% for state employees.The Joint Finance Committee approved Carney’s plan to give state workers pay raises ranging from 3% to 9%, depending on their pay grades. Employees making less than $50,000 a year would see their pay increase between 7% and 9%, with the lowest pay grades receiving the highest percentage increases.
