DALLAS (AP) — The people killed by a gunman at a mall near Dallas over the weekend include two elementary-age sisters, a couple and their child, a young engineer and a security guard who worked there, and they represented a multicultural cross-section of the area’s increasingly diverse suburbs. Cox Elementary School students Daniela and Sofia Mendoza, grades four and two, were among those slain Saturday at Allen Premium Outlets, according to officials in the Wylie Independent School District. They were remembered as “the kindest, most thoughtful students with smiles that could light up any room,” Principal Krista Wilson said in a letter to parents.Also killed at the outdoor shopping center were three members of a Korean American family: a couple and one of their sons. (AP) — Kansas City Royals LHP Ryan Yarbrough was placed on the 15-day injured list with what was classified as “head fractures” after taking a 106-mph line drive off the right side of his face Sunday. Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Yarbrough has three non-displaced fractures in different spots around his right eye.“He’s stable, improving,” Quatraro said before Monday’s game. “He never lost consciousness. DENVER (KDVR) -- Metal ductwork collapsed at a public pool in Aurora last fall, in an incident similar to what happened at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center on Saturday.In November 2022, part of the ductwork over the parameter of the Utah Indoor Pool fell, the city confirmed to FOX31. (KDVR) — FOX31 and Channel 2 confirmed the names of the four people who died after a small Cessna plane crashed near Cañon City on Saturday morning."The four individuals that were on that flight are pillars of the community," said Kevin Mahmalji, a friend of some of the victims on board.Bruce Claremont, Laurie Aves and Roger and Katherine Duncan, all from Florence, were killed in the crash, according to the Teller County Coroner’s Office.“I don’t know what's going to come of that little town, 'cause they contributed a lot to that town," Bobbie Snarr said, referring to her friends, the Duncans.
