BEIJING — China on Friday accused Canada of smearing its reputation over allegations China is secretly operating two overseas police stations in Quebec.Canada should “stop sensationalizing and hyping the matter and stop attacks and smears on China,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a daily briefing.“China has been … strictly abiding by international law and respecting all countries’ judicial sovereignty,” Mao said.The spokesperson did not comment on the existence of the police stations or whether they were operated by Chinese government authorities.Canadians of Chinese origin have been victims of activities carried out by the stations, Sgt. BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Saratoga County man, who raped a 13-year-old girl in 2017, was sentenced to five months behind bars on Wednesday for failing to register as a sex offender. Bounds III, 37, was accused of having sex with the teen, who was too young to legally consent. He was charged at the time with felony counts of second-degree rape, second-degree criminal sexual act, and misdemeanor sexual abuse. Bounds III was sentenced in April 2018 to three years in state prison. Once he was released, he moved to Milton, where police say he failed to register as a sex offender—a felony offense. Police were in pursuit of a Red Cadillac sedan that started around 6:11 a.m. on I-70 eastbound towards Lindbergh, near Highway 79.
