(KRON) -- San Jose nurse Delia Yriarte was enjoying a three-week, long overdue vacation to Peru and the Galapagos Islands. But on July 4, after snorkeling with a tour group off Mosquera Island, she returned to shore and was intercepted by an unwanted visitor… a shark. Bay Area native found dead in Yosemite after 7-day search Yriarte said a nurse practitioner who was also on the tour saved her by putting a tourniquet on her leg and calling for help. After an hourlong journey to the hospital, doctors took one look at her mangled leg and confirmed it was in fact a shark bite."I was probably a meter-and-a-half to two meters from the shore," she told KRON4. "When I felt a little push, I didn't think much of it. I just thought it was weird. I kept paddling. And then I felt my leg a little numb, or that a little weird. And then I paddle again and then I felt like my leg wasn't responding."She now has more than 100 stitches in her leg and five tendon repairs. (KRON) -- An Oakland A's fan group planned a protest at the MLB All-Star Game in Seattle Tuesday night. During the fifth inning of the game, "Sell the Team" chants rang out at T-Mobile Park. The group, called Oakland 68s, passed out cards that said "Sell the Athletics" and outlined the plan for the protest. You can hear the chants in the video above. The chants were hardly audible during FOX's broadcast of the game, as the telecast cut to an interview with Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani while fans chanted. When A's All-Star outfielder Brent Rooker came up to the plate in the sixth inning, the chants started again. Rooker roped a ground-rule double to right field. It is the latest protest organized by Oakland fans after news broke in the spring that the team's ownership intended to relocate the franchise to Las Vegas. On June 13, A's fans drew national attention by packing the Oakland Coliseum for a "reverse boycott."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Brittney Sykes scored 26 points and the short-handed Washington Mystics beat the Seattle Storm 93-86 Tuesday night despite a record-tying nine 3-pointers from Jewell Loyd. The Mystics, who won two games in Seattle by seven and six points, led by 25 late in the third quarter and 84-67 near the midpoint of the fourth.Loyd, who left the Storm’s last game with an ankle injury on Saturday, hit four of her 3-pointers after that. The Storm got it down to a two possession game with less than three minutes to go, but Sykes made back-to-back baskets, converting the second into a three-point play, and the Mystics closed it out.Washington let the shot clock run out on its final possession but Loyd’s attempt at breaking the WNBA 3-point record for a game bounced off the rim as time expired. Kelsey Mitchell hit nine 3s for Indiana in 2019. Loyd finished with 39 points.Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had 16 points off the bench for the Mystics (11-8), helping make up for the ...Man had restraining order against accused Broomfield restaurant shooter

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (KDVR) — A man who has a history with an accused shooter of a burrito spot in Broomfield explained what happened between the two of them in the past. Broomfield resident Pete Elliott said there are bullet holes in his home window. He said he was laying inches away when they came into his home last Saturday. “I dove off the bed, thought someone was so close in the noise, I thought there was like some of the sniper or something that got that close and just missed,” Elliott said. Elliott told FOX31 he instantly had a hunch about who the shooter could be.“I knew immediately,” he said. “I knew because of the stalking and the threats and the harassment for three years.” Sniper-like shots fired at buildings in Broomfield and Denver may be connected While he can’t definitively prove who pulled the trigger last Saturday, Elliott told FOX31 he believes it was Kenneth Fairchild, a man who he got a restraining order against almost two years ago.“We got a restrainin...Colorado Rockies' Elias Diaz named MLB All-Star Game MVP

LONDON — Nobody disputes artificial intelligence is the technology of the future — which makes Rishi Sunak’s pick for AI minister in the U.K. government a little unorthodox.Jonathan Berry, 53, is better known in Westminster as the 5th Viscount Camrose — a hereditary peer in the House of Lords whose title has been passed down the generations from father to son. There were “no castles,” Berry jokes of his upbringing, but as a child he would visit the family’s Hackwood Park estate, then owned by his great uncle Seymour Berry (the 2nd Viscount Camrose). The estate — a 17th-century mansion complete with 24 bedrooms, a Tudor-style banqueting hall, library, and riding stables — was sold off in the late 1990s. But the viscountcy, the fourth rank in the British peerage system — standing directly below an earl and above a baron — survives to this day. It was that title that allowed Berry to take his seat in the House of Lords last year, one of 92 hereditary peers who continue to sit in the...Orioles savor first All-Star Game experience: ‘Everything I ever imagined’

Adley Rutschman lowered himself into a squat, just as he was bound to do within a handful of hours to catch his Baltimore teammates. But he wore no catcher’s gear. In his left hand, he did not don a mitt but instead held a pen. Before taking batting practice ahead of Tuesday night’s All-Star Game at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park, a game the American League lost to the National League, 3-2, the Orioles’ catcher took a moment to speak with a pair of young fans, dropping down as he would in a game to meet them at eye level before signing autographs. In the nearest major league city to his hometown of Sherwood, Oregon, Rutschman was a popular figure throughout two days of events in which he and three teammates, outfielder Austin Hays and relievers Félix Bautista and Yennier Cano, savored their first All-Star experience.Typically Baltimore’s left fielder, Hays drew the start in center field for the American League, placed between the Texas Rangers’ Adoli...Latest news
