BRUSSELS — European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is facing criticism for not explicitly calling on Israel to respect international law in its war on Gaza during a trip to the country Friday.Von der Leyen, a German center-right politician, visited the Kfar Aza kibbutz where Hamas militants murdered scores of civilians in an attack last week that killed more than 1,300 Israelis. She also expressed unreserved solidarity with Israel on behalf of the European Union. But she is facing political backlash from lawmakers and diplomats for not speaking up about the humanitarian consequences of Israel’s retaliatory attacks on Hamas in Gaza, which have killed more than 1,900 Palestinians including many civilians.“She simply said Israel has the right to defend itself, full stop,” said a diplomat who spoke anonymously to speak freely. “That is not the line member states agreed.” On Tuesday, EU’s foreign ministers condemned attacks by Hamas but also “called for the protection of c...Two killed in Lexington overnight after crash involving wrong-way driver on I-95

OTTAWA — Leader Jagmeet Singh says an NDP government would rebuild Canada and take aim at what he calls decades of damage done by Liberal and Conservative governments.Singh delivered his speech today to delegates on the second day of the NDP convention in Hamilton before a leadership vote. His comments to rebuild the country seemed to be a counter to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, who leans on his catchphrase that “everything is broken.”Singh also says an NDP government would create more housing, improve health care and focus on affordability. Singh told the packed room that those who created the challenges of the day can’t be trusted to solve it, referring to the Liberals and Conservatives. He also acknowledges people are critical of his party’s deal with the Liberals, which has the NDP supporting the minority government on key votes in the House of Commons. (NEXSTAR) – Unless it’s some sort of consensual kink you’ve both discussed beforehand, you never want to put a foot in your mouth on a first date.Fortunately for all you singles, renowned dating coach Devyn Simone is well-versed in avoiding taboo topics, sensitive subjects, and first-date questions that no one should ever ask.“I’m always fascinated to understand the dynamics of relationships,” said Simone, who also works as the resident relationship expert at Tinder. “I hear some really interesting stories, too.” Zoom may be making you think you are ugly Perhaps not surprisingly, some of those “interesting” stories stem from failed first dates. And, according to Simone, asking insensitive questions often puts daters on the fast track to failure.“The ones that I hear people most commonly ask, or want to ask — there’s really not a good answer,” she told Nexstar.“For starters, ‘Why are you single?’ It’s a terrible question, even if your intention is good,” she said. The problem with t...How much does it cost to replace an alternator?

(iSeeCars) -- Your alternator is one of the hardest working parts on your vehicle. It’s a common misconception that the battery in your vehicle is what supplies your power while the vehicle is running. The alternator not only supplies power to all of your vehicle’s electrical components while the vehicle is running, but it’s also recharging your car battery at the same time. Every time you use your headlights, radio, GPS, air conditioner, heater, defroster, power seats, turn signal, dome lights, or power outlets, your alternator is making it all work by turning mechanical energy into electrical energy. Needless to say, when it dies, your car can’t function. That makes its replacement a pretty big priority. To keep you prepared for potential alternator failure (an increasing possibility as a vehicle ages), here’s a look at what it costs to replace one of these miniature power plants. How Long Do Alternators Last? It’s difficult to predict ho...PHOTOS: ACL Weekend 2 kicked off Friday
