A bill that would make it easier for outdoor enthusiasts to reserve a campsite in California state parks was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom Sunday night.Assembly Bill 618, introduced by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda), proposed amendments to the state's campsite reservation system to deter no-shows and cancellations, freeing up spots for campers that would otherwise go unused.The bill was sent to Newsom's desk for signature about three weeks ago after it passed through the legislature with unanimous support."California's public parks and beaches are treasures that should be enjoyed by all Californians and demand for them has increased greatly," Bauer-Kahan said in a release on Monday. A teenaged boy was killed when the electric bicycle he was riding collided with a car in Santa Clarita on Monday.The crash was reported around 9 a.m. at Decoro Drive and McBean Parkway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The 17-year-old was declared dead at the scene, as the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded but no one was transported to a hospital. (BCN) -- A 27-year-old San Carlos man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting another man in San Jose back in July, police said Tuesday.The shooting was reported at 4:06 a.m. on July 2 in the 400 block of Queens Lane, where officers responded and found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. (KRON) -- Four people were arrested for assault outside an In N Out Burger in Redwood City Friday after a case of mistaken identity led to a violent confrontation, according to police. Multiple assaults occurred in and around the In N Out parking lot at 949 Veterans Boulevard at around 9 p.m. Friday, according to the Redwood City Police Department.Police said the confrontation began when two men armed with a metal pipe approached a group of teens and young adults. The two men thought the group they were confronting was involved in a strong-arm robbery earlier in the week.
