A driver recently explained what happened that led her to crash into a Salem pet grooming business one day after surveillance video showed the crash on Tuesday afternoon. SKY7-HD was over the scene off Boston Street around 5:15 p.m., where people had been seen carrying their dogs out of the impacted business. Video later showed a blue car pulling into a parking space before jumping the curb and going straight into the store. “I wanted to move a little bit closer and all of a sudden I saw my car going forward,” said Shirley Beaivaos Riley. “So, I got nervous and I tried to find the brake and it went right through the store.”Riley, 85, said she was at the wheel with her sister-in-law in the passenger seat. “I was just saying ‘When is this car gonna stop?’ And it stopped right in the middle,” Riley said.Riley was going to pick up her Shih Tzu, “Rocky,” after he was groomed “Laundro-Mutt.” She told police she stepped on the gas instead of the brake.Linsa Jackson, who live...Neighbors question federal, state investigators searching Hanson home

New York (CNN) — If you do business with a bank or other financial service provider, chances are you may have dealt with “chatbots” at some point when you have a question about your account or are trying to remedy a problem. Those bots, cheaper than humans and sometimes incorporating artificial intelligence technology, have increasingly become the front line for customer help on the phone and in online interactions at financial service providers. If your dealings with any of them have left you frustrated or feeling misled, the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would very much like to hear about it.The CFPB, which has regulatory authority over financial products and services such as credit cards, bank accounts, loan servicing and debt collection, put out a new report this week that essentially puts financial industry players on notice. The agency said it will be paying close attention to customer experiences with chatbots to make sure they are ...Liberty-Lynx game at Barclays Center postponed due to air quality issues caused by Canadian wildfires

I was surprised that the late film star, Katharine Hepburn, was legendary in her day for her brownies. As a youngster, I adored the film roles she portrayed, quirky women often with an endearing rebellious streak. I never imagined that she had found baking fame until I read a revised recipe for her brownies in David Lebovitz’s “The Great Book of Chocolate” (Ten Speed Press).Lebovitz wrote that her recipe was fine, but to reflect more current tastes he tweaked it to include additional chocolate and chocolate chips. They are delicious, rich in chocolate goodness with the crunch of chopped nuts, either pecans or walnuts. The texture somewhere between cakey and fudge-like.They would make a welcome gift for Dad this Father’s Day, June 18. They are scrumptious on their own, but I like them served topped with ice cream or whipped cream and fresh strawberries. That’s how my dad would have liked them.Dave and Kate’s Remarkable BrowniesYield: 16 browniesINGREDIENTSSoft butter and flour for pr...After 5-year-old Andover girl was killed in a crosswalk, her family pushes for pedestrian safety improvements
