BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Connor Watkins threw a pair of touchdown passes to Rayjuon Pringle and Jalen Jackson ran for 144 yards and two scores as Villanova rolled past Lehigh 38-10 Saturday to win its season opener for the seventh straight year. It was the third straight season that the Wildcats have faced the Mountain Hawks in the season opener. Villanova has won 11 straight games against Lehigh and is 14-5 all-time in the series.Villanova took the lead with an 11-play, 75-yard first-quarter drive capped by Jackson’s 1-yard run. After Gaige Garcia fumbled on the Hawks’ next series, Richie Kimmel recovered to give the Wildcats the ball at the Lehigh 33 and Watkins quickly hit Pringle from 28 yards out for a 10-0 lead. A South Florida woman who was shot by a man who injured a second victim before he turned the gun on himself has died, police said.Miami-Dade Police on Saturday identified the woman as Maria Cruz de la Cruz.Investigators said Cruz de la Cruz and two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds inside a home along the 9900 block of Southwest 165th Terrace in Southwest Miami-Dade’s Palmetto Estates neighborhood, Friday afternoon.Detectives said the man with the self-inflicted gunshot wound shot himself in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Paramedics rushed the other two victims to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition. WEST CHESTER, Pa. — A recently convicted murderer who’s been on the run for days after escaping a suburban Philadelphia prison was spotted shortly after midnight Saturday by residential security cameras in an area not far from the prison, authorities said.Authorities haven’t disclosed the circumstances of how Danelo Cavalcante, 34, managed to escape Thursday morning from Chester State Prison, and say the episode is under investigation. SAN DIEGO -- A man was injured after being shot at by masked gunmen in the Lincoln Park neighborhood Saturday, said the San Diego Police Department.According to authorities, a 29-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle at 4862 Logan Ave. around 2:04 a.m. and was waiting for the gate to open to the Seabreeze Apartment complex.
