Legendary trumpeter Wynton Marsalis to perform in Troy

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall announced they will be hosting a performance by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The concert is scheduled for February 17, 2024. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Composed of 15 permanent members, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has been led by Marsalis since 1991. The big band backed Marsalis on his album "Blood on the Fields", which won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for music. Marsalis has also earned the National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities Medal. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass sprang into action when a television news photographer collapsed while covering a press event on Thursday.The incident unfolded at the L.A. Police Department's training academy in Elysian Park where Bass joined LAPD Chief Michel Moore in congratulating the graduating class of police recruits.According to KNX News Radio reporter Craig Fiegener, who witnessed the incident, the KCAL News photographer collapsed and hit his head on the ground."The very first person to run to his rescue was the mayor," Fiegener said.KNX shared cell phone footage on X, formerly Twitter, that shows Bass, an LAPD officer and another person tending to the injured man.L.A. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South L.A.The shooting happened Sunday, Dec. 3, around 11 p.m. on the 8500 block of South Hoover Street, police said.Officers arrived on scene and found a man in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department.A second man who was also struck by gunfire was found at the scene. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was last listed as being in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing and no suspect information has been released at this time.Anyone with information about this deadly shooting is urged to contact the LAPD's South Bureau Homicide Division at 323-786-5100.
