It projects only 6.5 wins for Minnesota; that means barely bowl eligible for head coach P.J. Fleck and Co. after the U produced nine or more wins in three of the past four seasons.Schedule strength is a primary reason for the diminished forecast. In September, the Gophers travel to North Carolina, a possible Top 25 team led by star quarterback Drake Maye, a projected early pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The U’s nonconference schedule is rounded out by Eastern Michigan and Louisiana.Minnesota must face Michigan and Ohio State after avoiding both Big Ten behemoths a year ago. The U’s ...

Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat: Who has the edge, five things to watch and predictions

Published Tue, 25 Feb 2025 20:03:59 GMT

As the Denver Nuggets enter their first NBA Finals in franchise history, a breakdown of their matchup against the Miami Heat:Who has the edge?Guards: Maybe Nikola Jokic has inadvertently stolen some of Jamal Murray’s shine, but Denver’s combo guard has been almost unstoppable throughout Denver’s historic playoff run. Far from a bubble phenomenon, Murray’s averaging 27.7 points per game in the playoffs, which is, gasp, more than he averaged when the Nuggets were sequestered in Orlando. The Lakers didn’t have an answer for him when he filleted their backcourt, and outside of Heat star Jimmy Butler, there are no obvious defensive matchups for Murray. Gabe Vincent and Max Strus are both scrappy guards, each capable and willing to shoot from outside. The Heat is a team made up of more than the sum of its parts, but Denver’s got a significant advantage in the backcourt. Edge: Nuggets.Wings: Don’t underestimate Butler, the two-way wing who thrives in the face of doubt. The unquestioned lea...

Opinion: Colorado’s GOP went broke because Dave Williams can’t lead

Published Tue, 25 Feb 2025 20:03:59 GMT

The state GOP is partying like it’s 2002, the last time the party was so broke it didn’t pay salaries.According to a May 2023 filing with the Federal Election Commission, as first reported by The Colorado Sun, the Colorado Republican Party raised less than $15,000 in April and made no payroll expenditures. By comparison, the state Democratic Party raised nearly $92,000 that month and supported half a dozen staff members. The dearth of donations is not surprising given the new leadership. Back in March, the party faithful chose former state Representative Dave ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ Williams, a far-right MAGA 2020-election denier to head the Colorado GOP. He has since invited ankle monitor-sporting Tina Peters to join the leadership team hoping she would bring along her “national network of well-funded friends.” Judging by the latest financial disclosure, sugar daddy Mike Lindell has yet to open his wallet.Williams has been trying to fundraise via email with ridiculous, hyper-partisan sub...
