APD searching for suspect in June southeast Austin hit-and-run

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin Police are searching for a man they say is responsible for a hit-and-run crash that happened in southeast Austin in June. The crash happened June 1 around 12:25 p.m. near the intersection of East William Cannon Drive and James Ranch Road. According to the Austin Police Department, the preliminary investigation showed the driver of a dark-colored Chevy Equinox crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle, then immediately left the scene without rendering aid or calling 911. One of the passengers in the vehicle that the man hit was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to APD. DELMAR, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Rensselaer man has been arrested following a burglary investigation, according to police. John Whiteford, 41, is facing multiple charges. LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The 34-year-old man from Moreau accused of shooting a person in the Queensbury Walmart parking lot on November 27 was sentenced to twelve years in prison. Adrian Simental was also ordered to three years of post-release supervision and a 20-year order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. According to the indictment, an aggressive driving encounter resulted in a verbal dispute at the Walmart store on Route 9. Simental then fired a handgun into the torso of the victim.
