PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jalen Hurts, the “ tush push” and suddenly one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL get the bulk of the love for the Eagles’ second straight 3-0 start.Don’t forget about the defense. The Eagles’ D — full of new starters and new defensive coordinator Sean Desai — has been downright dominant over the first three games. They produced their best effort of the season in a 25-11 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a game that put the spotlight on Jalen Carter, Darius Slay Jr., Jordan Davis and the rest of the defense. And one sure to put the rest of the NFL on notice. The Eagles have allowed just 145 yards rushing — total! — in three games on 48 carries. That’s a bit over 48 yards per game and 3.02 yards per carry. The longest run allowed over that span is just 12 yards.Tampa Bay had yet to turn the ball over in its first two games, both wins, until it ran into the Eagles. Baker Mayfield threw an interception and there was a lost fumble and a safety. That’s ...Stock market today: Wall Street falls sharply as its September slump gets even worse

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street’s ugly September got even worse Tuesday, as a sharp drop for stocks brought them back to where they were in June. The S&P 500 tumbled 1.5% for its fifth loss in the last six days. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 388 points, or 1.1%, and the Nasdaq composite lost 1.6%.September has brought a loss of 5.2% so far for the S&P 500, putting it on track to be the worst month of the year by far, as the realization sets in that the Federal Reserve will indeed keep interest rates high for a long time. That growing understanding has sent yields in the bond market to their highest levels in more than a decade, which in turn has undercut prices for stocks and other investments.Treasury yields rose again Thursday following a mixed batch of reports on the economy. The yield on the 10-year Treasury edged up to 4.55% from 4.54% late Monday and is near its highest level since 2007. It’s up sharply from about 3.50% in May and from 0.50% about three yea...26-year-old tech CEO Pava LaPere found dead at Baltimore apartment building; homicide investigation underway

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma City Council voted Tuesday to set a Dec. 12 citywide vote on a proposed 1% sales tax for six years that would fund a new $900 million downtown arena and keep the NBA’s Thunder in the city through at least 2050.The council also voted 7-2 to approve a letter of intent with the Thunder’s ownership group that would require the group to contribute $50 million toward the arena’s cost. The deal also calls for $70 million in city funds from an existing sales tax approved by voters in 2019 for upgrades to the current Paycom Center.“I commend the Council for authorizing me to sign this historic letter of intent, I thank the Thunder for their partnership and I congratulate all of OKC for getting to this point,” Mayor David Holt said in a statement. Under the plan, the six-year, 1% sales tax would begin April 1, 2028, when the current MAPS 4 sales tax ends so the city’s sales tax rate would remain unchanged. ELIZABETH, Colo. (KDVR) — Over the years, shop classes in high schools have slowly but surely been eliminated from the curriculum. Elizabeth High School, however, recently started up a shop class program. They say they created it for all the right reasons. It used to be called industrial arts, then shop class, then nothing at all."I think it went away in the early '90s, when the tech boom technology came in. It was the new thing. There was huge earnings, and the pendulum of education kind of swung that way," said Derek Spohn, Elizabeth High School shop instructor. And as much fun as a four-year degree in art appreciation may be, post-graduation employment will be a challenge, Spohn said. That is why he is tickled pink that Elizabeth High School is now offering shop classes to its student body."They are actively working with their hands, so they are going to learn a skill that is going to feed them potentially for the rest of their life," Spohn said.
