The projected timeline for a return was six-to-eight months.“My goal was to be ready in six months,” Díaz said Monday. “And I’m working on that.”Díaz said he was clocked in the low-to-mid 90s on Sunday, when he threw on an outdoor bullpen mound to a catcher in the crouching position for the first time since getting hurt.“I know my stuff is there,” Díaz said. “A main thing for me is how my knee is good and healthy, I feel healthy right now and I’m pitching again. I just want to get that positive note to go home and relax, work hard for next year.”Mets manager Buck Showalter has ...Mexico sends 1,200 more troops to Michoacan state after weekend of cartel violence

Prosecutors said three men and three youths aged 16 and 17 were arrested in the attacks.A Defense Department statement said the soldiers and National Guard members were deployed over the weekend. It said they were ordered to prevent cartels from blocking any more roads, “so that people can go about their business normally.”Soldiers are stationed in every Mexican state, but the army did not say how many already were in Michoacan before the weekend deployment.President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that “peace and tranquility” had been restored to the region and called the weekend violence acts of “propaganda and publicity.”Life in the citi...Arrestan a un padre tras brutal ataque a entrenador de fútbol durante partido en Virginia

There might not have been an obvious turning point to the Chicago Cubs’ season. But the extra-inning win in Milwaukee on the Fourth of July, which ended with manager David Ross’s profane postgame rant about the closing of the roof at American Family Field, was probably as good a place as any to start.“It’s really un-American to shut the roof on the Fourth of July,” Ross said the next day. “I don’t know who does that. It was a beautiful day.”The Cubs were seven games under .500 at 38-45 entering the holiday. They went 31-16 over their next 47 games, a .660 winning percentage that catapulted them into a wild-card spot and kept them within spitting distance of first place, four games behind the Brewers in the National League Central entering Monday’s showdown at Wrigley Field. It was another beautiful day as Cubs starter Jameson Taillon faced Brewers left-hander Wade Miley in the opening game of a key three-game series.Sister Jean of ...Luis Severino dominates again, Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres hit back-to-back homers in Yankees’ win over Tigers
