AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said it was investigating a shooting that involved police in south Austin.APD said the shooting occurred Saturday in the 1100 block of Brecon Lane. AUSTIN (KXAN) – Not quite “boots on the ground,” but some friendly competition on South Congress Avenue, for certain. Allens Boots, a prominent Austin cowboy boot provider since the 1970s, recently opened a pop-up shop for clearance merchandise a few doors down from its flagship location. But next door to the pop-up is another Austin-born boot western apparel store – Tecovas. LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — Leander ISD will create its own police department to comply with a new state law. The district's board of trustees approved the decision Thursday. The initial department will include a chief, an assistant chief and 10 marshals. PREVIOUS: Leander ISD board considers district police department The Leander ISD Police Department is the district's response to House Bill 3, a law that went into effect Sept. 1 and requires armed security officers at every school campus in Texas. The district said the vote will let the district "take initial steps in immediately bolstering on-campus security presence with the marshals." LISD currently has school resource offices at each high school through partnerships with the Cedar Park Police Department, Leander Police Department and Travis County Sheriff's Office. The board also approved a $1.1 million budget amendment to fund the department. ST. LOUIS - An armed suspect carjacked a man while he was warming up his car early Friday morning in north St. Louis. Police say the reported carjacking happened around 3:20 a.m. Friday, right outside the victim's home in the 4100 block of East Carter Avenue in the O'Fallon neighborhood. Three men charged in St. Charles County trafficking case plead not guilty Investigators say the victim, a 28-year-old man, was sitting in his parked and running vehicle outside as he waited for it to warm up. While looking at his phone, he heard a tap on his window. At that point, the victim noticed a suspect in dark clothing who pointed a handgun at him. The suspect demanded the victim to get out of the car, and he complied. The suspect took off in an unknown direction in the victim's black 2014 Dodge Challenger. The former Secretary of Defense is getting the call to the Hall of Fame on his first try.Former Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard, who spent three-and-a-half seasons with the club from 2016-19 and made 100 appearances, was named to the Class of 2024 by the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Saturday.Howard, who earned 46 of 48 first-place ballots (95.8%) was a near-unanimous selection and will be formally inducted to the NSHOF in Frisco, Texas, in May. It was Howard’s first year on the ballot as he retired in 2020 and in order to meet eligibility requirements, those considered for the “Players” ballot must be retired for at least three seasons. More than 100 teens and young adults were at an Aurora house party early Saturday when gunfire erupted, wounding four people.Officers were in the area when they heard gunshots about 12:15 a.m., the Aurora Police Department reported on X. They responded to the shooting in the 1300 block of Joliet Street, where they found the more than 100 young people fleeing the party.Four people were shot and taken to hospitals: an 18-year-old woman, two 19-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy, police said. None of their wounds appeared to be life-threatening.One vehicle “created a safety risk” to the fleeing partygoers, so officers attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle didn’t stop, and officers pursued the vehicle until they could disable it.The driver, an 18-year-old man ran, but officers apprehended him, police said. The San Jose Sharks on Saturday placed forward Luke Kunin on injured reserve and defenseman Nikolai Knyzhov on waivers.Kunin, 25, played on Thursday when the Sharks lost 3-0 to the Boston Bruins, but missed Friday’s game with the New Jersey Devils, a 6-3 San Jose win, with what was described as an upper-body injury.Kunin, who has seven points in 23 games this season, is the fifth Sharks player presently on injured reserve, joining forwards Filip Zadina, Alexander Barabanov, and Oskar Lindblom, and defenseman Jan Rutta.Knyzhov, 25, has played just 10 times this season as he’s been a healthy scratch for 13 games, including the last five. A 203-unit affordable apartment complex is set to go up near the Capitol Light Rail Station in San Jose, officials announced this week. (KRON) – A 30-year-old San Francisco man was arrested for stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a business, the Colma Police Department announced Friday. Colma officers were dispatched to a business in the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard on a report of a theft at approximately 9:41 p.m. on Nov. 24. Officers were advised a man stole merchandise and fled the scene in a white Dodge. One person injured after Mission Bay stabbing in SF Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, police said. After confirmation from the business’ loss prevention that the driver was the suspect, the man was arrested. It was determined that the suspect stole approximately $1,263.76 worth of merchandise. According to police, officers located a concealed loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine near the front passenger seat in search of the vehicle.
