State parks get $1.8 million in grants

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — On Wednesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that $1.8 million in grants will go toward state parks, trails, historic sites, and other public lands. The grants support both public and private partnerships funding park amenities, park and site maintenance, beautification projects, educational programming, and special events. As many prepare for the anticipated snowfall, Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy reminds residents to adhere to all parking regulations. The 287-unit luxury Platform at Union Station apartment building in Lower Downtown sold for $125.5 million to Griffis Residential in what is said to be one of the largest multifamily property transactions in metro Denver in 2023.The 21-story building at 1650 Wewatta St. was built in 2015, directly adjacent to Union Station. Holland Partner Group in Vancouver, Wash., developed the apartment building. U.S. 287 is closed between Longmont and Berthoud because of two crashes on the roadway, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.CDOT reported the closure at 9:06 a.m. at Horseshoe Circle just north of Yellowstone Road.Highway 287 is completely shut down just north of Yellowstone between Longmont and Berthoud. Actor Christian Oliver has died in a tragic plane crash in the Caribbean alongside his two daughters. Oliver, known for his roles in "Speed Racer" and "Valkyrie" was 51 years old. Deadline reports that the small plane they were in crashed into the ocean off a Caribbean island on Thursday. The plane's owner and pilot, Robert Sachs, also passed away in the accident. Authorities in Long Beach are investigating an attack on a woman that was captured on home security video.The attack occurred Thursday in a residential area near East 21st Street and Locust Avenue.Video from two cameras shows a man carrying some type of rod approaching the woman, who was pushing a stroller, from behind. He strikes her in the head and then runs away, the video shows.Surveillance cameras show a man striking a woman with a rod in Long Beach on Jan. 4, 2024. (Juan C.
