ERIE, Colo. (KDVR) -- The Erie Police Department said a King Soopers was "all clear" after it was swept for a possible pipe bomb threat on Friday morning.Police evacuated the store as the bomb techs investigated the building. The department said a bomb-sniffing dog was deployed to the store located at 1891 State Highway 7 to assist in the investigation.The store was closed to all public entry but reopened just before noon.Colorado no longer nation's cocaine capital

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado is no longer the nation's cocaine capital, though it still has one of the highest use rates among 18 to 25-year-olds.In 2020, Colorado had the nation's highest self-reported cocaine use, according to survey data from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Among people 12 years old and up, 2.24% of Coloradans had used cocaine in the past year. Denver no longer nation’s top city for weed SAMHSA's 2021 survey shows other states have higher usage rates. In 2021, 1.81% of Coloradans 12 and over had used cocaine in the past year - the 20th-highest use rate of U.S. states. East Coast locales have the nation's highest cocaine use rates. The District of Columbia had the highest rate with 3.66% of residents aged 12 and over reporting using it in the last year. Vermont, New York, Maryland and Massachusetts come next. WELD COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- A residence in Weld County had nearly 100 dogs removed from the property and the owners were cited for operating a kennel without a license, the Weld County Sheriff's Office said.The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act program and the sheriff's office animal control took 95 dogs from a Weld County residence on Tuesday. The CDA issued a cease and desist order to the owners of the dogs "for operating an animal shelter or sanctuary at their residence without a valid license," WCSO said. CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KDVR) -- A former bus driver for Douglas County School District is facing 30 misdemeanor child abuse charges for an incident caught on camera in early March.Brian Fitzgerald, 61, was driving students from Castle Rock Elementary School on March 1, when he addressed the children on the bus. What Purina says it’s doing to eliminate odor at Denver plant "You guys need to be in your seats," Fitzgerald said on the intercom. "You want to see how dangerous that is?"Moments later, Fitzgerald allegedly hits the brakes of the bus, causing some children to bump into the seats in front of them. DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — Residents of Daytona Beach were amazed when the nearby shores revealed a massive shipwreck, the second to be discovered in recent times. The discovery has sparked excitement among residents and tourists who are eager to learn more about the sunken vessels.The drone video showed the outline of an old ship’s hull, making it the second wreckage that has been unearthed off the central Florida coast since Hurricane Ian and Nicole tore across the beaches. According to the Volusia Beach Patrol, the shipwreck is about 25-30 feet long and appears to be very old.“It’s kind of cool to see these blasts from the past, unfortunately, due to the lost sand,” said Captain Aj Miller of the Volusia Beach Patrol. Two waterspouts touched down on the coasts of Broward County beaches before immediately dissipating, Friday afternoon.One of the weather phenomena made landfall around 12:45 p.m., on the shores just east of the intersection of Hayes Street and North Surf Road.Live video footage captured a funnel over the ocean where a disturbance in the water could be seen.At the time of the video, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning after the waterspout made landfall but has since been lifted. Farm Share, the largest food bank in Florida hosted a food distribution in Lauderdale Lakes Friday morning. For many, it couldn’t have come at a better time after the historic floods that occurred in Broward last week. “Lot of water and lots of rain,” said a woman who was in line. Organizers experienced longer lines at the First Baptist Church on Oakland Park Boulevard which has led them to reach out to Farm Share for additional help.“We truly did reach out we used all of our agencies and all of our partners to let them know that this was happening today,” said a woman. Officers and personnel at the Bristol County House of Corrections are dealing with an “incident” at the facility that started after authorities attempted to move inmates to different housing units, according to officials.In an update provided by the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, officials said the incident occurred while staff were taking steps to make the facility “more suicide-resistant.”“Part of this process is moving inmates to different housing units,” an official with the sheriff’s office stated. “Friday morning, some inmates in one of the housing units did not want to move, leading to the current incident.”Details on the incident itself have been limited, with SKY7-HD spotting at least two dozen officers and staff monitoring a part of the jail from the outside.
